Another day, another sneaker related crime.
The image of the faux tags was first uploaded on to Rep Sneakers, a subreddit dedicated to uncovering fake sneakers.
For those unaware, Stock X is an online marketplace dedicated to reselling authentic sneakers and luxury goods at market value.
According to Sole Collector, Stock X is currently aware of the issue and is working on a technologically advanced solution to counteract fake tags.
In the meantime, Stock X announced that it will be using circular tags (image below) instead of the old rectangular tags (image above), in an attempt to combat the issue.
To help you avoid falling prey to the latest sneaker scam, Reddit user scriptdtk has uploaded an image to help you “legit check” your next reseller purchase.
From the looks of the image above, real Stock X tags are made of a thicker, durable rubber material.
Other noteworthy features to take note of is the real tag’s uniform color. Fake tags sport two darker colored lines in the middle as well as a lighter colored string attachment.
The best way to avoid falling for the latest counterfeit Stock X tag scam would be to purchase your sneakers directly from Stock X. Stay safe sneakerheads.
