The cameo appearance by actors Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, complete with the “Blue Steel” look, set the stage for greater things to come next year. Read on to find out what.
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson walked the Valentino Runway and stole the show at Paris Fashion Week as they reprised their roles as models Derek Zoolander and Hansel McDonald from the 2001 comedy Zoolander. But the surprise appearance, complete with Zoolander’s trademark “Blue Steel” look, apparently isn’t a one-off. Paramount Pictures and Ben Stiller himself confirmed that the publicity stunt is in fact, an announcement that production for the sequel, Zoolander 2, is well underway.

The sequel could see Zoolander and McDonald making a return to the modelling world after a long absence. Stiller had said in a 2010 interview with MTV that “in the fashion world, if you go away for a year, it’s changed — it just happens so quickly. I think the idea in the beginning of the movie is that it’s 10 years later, and Derek and Hansel are literally forgotten. Nobody remembers who they are, so they have to reinvent themselves.”
Absent from the cameo appearance but definitely making their return to the sequel are funnyman Will Ferrell and scriptwriter Justin Theroux. Penelope Cruz has also reportedly joined the cast. Fans of Derek Zoolander may have to wait just under a year for the sequel to reach cinemas, but they can catch the runway appearance here:
