2021 gets a new Patta AM1: Dutch label, Patta is no stranger to tinkering with the iconic Nike Air Max 1 and it looks set to add one more collaboration based on that silhouette.

Patta alters the silhouette: Almost immediately, you will notice the wavy mud-guard that circles the entire upper. A tiny forefoot Swoosh on the mud-guard, Patta branding on the insole and a special tab on the tongue complete all the notable changes to the sneaker.

The wavy mudguard references the cultural shifts Patta has witnessed and the influence that it has had on the sneaker community and industry. Besides developing a strong fan base in streetwear, Patta has invested in creating a community meant to empower youths such as its Patta Running Team and Patta Foundation. The wavy pattern is the result of their merger of purpose and product – a symbol of the relationship between Patta and Nike.

All else is the same: Just like every other Air Max 1, you get a mesh toe box and simple grey leather overlays spanning the midfoot and heel. On the heel, you get the familiar embroidered Nike Air Max branding on the heel.

Select pairs will come with a special box that includes cream laces and a special silver chain, a nod to the fact that Patta is a black-owned business that has served the community for more than 17 years.
