The Stone Island SS20 collection is a testament to the brand’s prowess when it comes to creating and using patterns. With the military- and tech-wear inspirations, the new SS20 will feature three camouflage patterns applied to tees, outerwear, bottoms, and accessories.
The collection‘s three camo prints – Desert, Big Loom and Devore – will come in hues of red, blue and green respectively. Not only does the print and color differ between each capsule, but the treatment and choice of fabrics vary for the outerwear and accessories as well, giving each capsule a distinct look and feel.
The Desert capsule, which resembles American camo prints from the 1940s, is made with red, black, pink and beige color blocking. The outerwear pieces and accessories are made from resistant cotton rep blend with ultra-twisted Cordura yarn, which adds durability and allows the pieces to remain relatively smooth.
In Big Loom, we get a more navy-inspired aesthetic with camo prints in blue hues. The outerwear pieces and accessories focus on creating a complex and oversized jacquard design which is further emphasized by the various shades of grey on the camo print.
The Devore capsule mixes a complex printing process with cotton nylon mouliné fabric to create outerwear pieces and accessories that have a unique spray effect. Resembling the pixel print we see on a lot of modern military uniforms, the Devore showcases Stone Island’s ability to use complex printing and garment-dyeing processes to create a consistent and eye-catching print.
The Desert camo pieces of the collection are available at stoneisland.com. The Big Loom and Devore capsules will drop soon, so check back for updates.
