This year marked the rise of retro comebacks, with all the major sneaker brands hard at work digging through their archives. Adidas, for one, has embraced this movement, with a seemingly endless supply of silhouettes to choose from thanks to its rich history. Up next on its timeline of releases is the Adidas EQT Gazelle – based on the vintage 1999 Equipment Gazelle sneaker. To say that you’ll be spoilt for choice is an understatement. The sneaker will arrive in a whopping seven colorways for men, and four colorways for women.
As with all its retro sneakers, Adidas offers a vibrant array of colorways for its rebooted model. But for the less adventurous sneakerhead, the brand has also readied a few neutral colorways in its stable too. Similarities between the OG and the reboot include the leather overlays joining the lace loops and stretching over the three stripes branding on the side panels. What’s new on the Adidas EQT Gazelle – besides its modern appeal – is the updated midsole. Originally a running sneaker, this modern lifestyle iteration features an exaggerated midsole that arches in the middle – not unlike the highly popular Raf Simons x Adidas Ozweego. The 2019 Adidas EQT Gazelle will officially launch this Saturday, July 20, and retail at S$180 each.
