From the official release:
Luxury streetwear label mastermind JAPAN has partnered up with adidas Originals Consortium for one final project before they close up shop after 15 years in the game. The capsule collection, ‘BEST of adidas Originals’, features iconic Originals apparel and footwear models chosen by MMJ, reworked with their signature jet-black palette and skull and bones logo.
The range stays true to the clean lines of Originals silhouettes, pulling its focus in on the premium materials used throughout. A classic Firebird track top is executed in leather with a large white MMJ crossbones logo on the back, while three-layer DiAPLEX – engineered with a tonal graphic – has been used on archive windbreaker, the Shell jacket. The tracksuit also stays technical using PEC tricot materials and feels distinctly MMJ with asymmetric 3-Stripes detailing, tonal flocked skull and bones logo throughout and a leather skull and bone badge on the chest.
mastermind JAPAN tackles classic adidas footwear – models much-loved by the Japanese market – such as popular running style ZX500, the basketball favourite Rivalry Hi, revolutionary-for-its-time Country and training shoes Gazelle and Promodel CF. The collection is unified with the repetition of materials used such as soft leather, laser cut leather, pigskin suede, flocked reflective logos and bone lace jewels, though these elements are executed slightly different for each shoe model. Every pair is encased in a special black box.
The collection will be available from July 3 from The Stage at ISETAN in Shinjuku for one week only, as well as No. 6 London, No. 74 Berlin, No. 42 Paris and Consortium retailers worldwide.
Editor’s note: Select models from the capsule collection will be available in Singapore at Limited Edt. Stay tuned to Straatosphere for updates.
