Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Force 1 Mid

The Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Force 1 Mid appeared on-feet on the runway at Paris Fashion Week.

These avant-garde Air Force 1s have finally been given a drop date! The Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Force 1 Mid will drop in Singapore on October 23. Rei Kawakubo’s reinterpretation of the Air Force 1 will launch at Dover Street Market Singapore and on DSMS ESHOP. It will retail at S$470.

From initial images, it seems that the Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Force 1 Mid is a unique take on the deconstructed look.

CDG is dropping another Nike collab in 2020, and this time they are playing with the Nike Air Force 1! Over Paris Fashion Week, the sneaker popped up at Comme des Garçons’ Autumn/Winter 2020 runway show.

The Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Force 1 Mid comes in two colorways, black and off-white. The sneakers get a very deconstructed, avant-garde look, with specially made eyelets, Swooshes, heel caps, heel tabs, and heel straps. Each one has overcut panels stitched into place, with the stitches outlining the original shape of each panel. To top off the unfinished, deconstructed look, the toe cap gets a cutout where the perforations would normally be.

A very generous coat of leather wraps the uppers, giving it a luxurious feel. This is helped by the minimalist branding, with only “Comme des Garçons” embroidered on the heel strap and the “Nike Air” logo on the heel tab.

The sneakers were part of the CDG Autumn/Winter 2020 collection, so expect a drop later this year. Stay tuned for more updates!
