When you hear Boston, you’ll think Boston Marathon – the 123-year-old running event that has been a source of pride for Concept’s hometown. So it’s no surprise that Concepts looked to the Boston Marathon – more specifically, to the mylar recovery blankets handed out to runners, for inspiration when coming up with the design for their very own Adidas ZX 9000.
Mimicking the highly reflective blankets, the Concepts x Adidas ZX 9000 is wrapped in a crinkled, silver foiled upper. To contrast the bright and shimmery foil up top, Concepts gives the sneaker hits of matte red, white and blue stripes on the midfoot. This patriotic design cue helps to break the high-shine of the upper and introduces pops of color, while maintaining Adidas branding. To round off the All-American colorway, the midsole comes in a primarily off white color with navy accents to tie it in with the upper.
