Fear Of God is back collaborating with Adidas on the latest drop of its Athletics line, exploring sports staples through a sophisticated lens. Following on from the launch of Athletics in 2023, the 2023-2024 Opening Season Spring collection promises the same singular vision for performance wear.

The collection is designed to extend Fear Of God’s aesthetic into the world of sport without straying too far from its origins – the brand’s continued pursuit of perfection runs throughout each piece in the form of clean, fuss-free silhouettes. It’s athletic equipment, built on the foundation of innovation yet reimagined by the tailored sensibilities of Jerry Lorenzo.

The collection elevates sports staples to new, refined heights with clean silhouettes, minimal detailing and a muted color palette. Even the Triple Stripe has an understated makeover with an almost futuristic reimagining of the iconic trio of lines.

Look out for new-season staples including logo-stamped tank tops, versatile base separates and sweat shorts, all designed for layering. In addition to this, the debut collection’s suede fleece returns in new colorways.

As part of their collection, the iconic LA Trainer gets the Fear Of God treatment. A super low-profile reimagining of the classic runner, this version comes in two neutral colorways with minimal detailing and subtle logos – note the Fear Of God logo at the heel and signature Triple-Stripe on the side. A premium suede upper that’s fitted with durable ripstop nylon and framed in a wavy rubber sole sums up the unassuming shoe and captures what Fear Of God Athletic is all about: expertly executed sportswear.

The original sneaker, first released in 1984 for the Los Angeles Olympic Games, has the same streamlined silhouette with an upper crafted from suede and nylon. It’s seen numerous reissues in the decades that followed, with Fear Of God Athletics providing a luxe update.

The Fear Of God x Adidas drop includes an elevated rendition of the Rivalry ’86 Hi. The fresh take applies premium washed suede across the upper set atop a contoured, angled midsole that has become the signature design cue across all Fear of God footwear. Replicating the construction of the iconic retro basketball are stitched leather panels and an embossed toe box. Adding to the usability of the footwear is a padded tongue for extra comfort and a toggle on the laces for easy adjustments.

Model: Fear of God Athletics I Basketball
Price: S$360

In a prior release, we saw the Fear of God Athletics I Basketball which crosses basketball and football-inspired designs to create a brand new silhouette. Though functionally inspired by basketball with its knit upper reinforced by neoprene collar and Lightstrike midsole, the upper’s panelling borrows design cues from the Adidas Predator cleat archive to create its molded cage. Everything is paired perfectly together to achieve a design that stays true to the American label’s sleek aesthetic – even the angled, contoured midsole.

About Fear Of God Athletics

This is considered the final pillar in the label’s trinity: Fear of God, Essentials and Athletics make up the brand’s DNA as a unified vision. In the same way Adidas is remembered as “the brand with the three stripes”, the Fear Of God house takes on a three-in-one approach.

The Adidas-produced athletic branch of the cult streetwear label stays true to founder Jerry Lorenzo’s minimalist aesthetic, focusing on premium materials, sleek silhouettes and a streamlined approach to sports style.
