The G-SHOCK ORIGINS campaign celebrates the legacy of the DW-5600 watch and creators from around Southeast Asia who are in the singular pursuit of art, music, style, and sport.

G-SHOCK enlists Singaporean social media content creator and jeweler, Hanya Seah, as ambassador for the ORIGINS campaign. She shares the importance of individuality and how she overcomes the challenges of running an independent jewelry label.

Hanya Seah’s (@hanyaseah) effortless style is an embodiment of the term “off-duty model”. Possessing an innate flair for blending fashion trends of yesteryear with modern styles, the social media content creator seems to have never gone a day without making a bold statement through her outfits.

“I would describe my style as rugged and tough so naturally I gravitate more towards street style and sneakers. You see that I don’t stick to a particular style of dressing. I’m constantly pushing myself to be original,” she said.

Hanya’s foray into social media began with a simple goal: to share her outfits with followers. While staying true to a unique sense of style can pose a challenge to most, the same doesn’t apply to Hanya. “I find enjoyment in expressing my style through dressing up,” she said.

But Hanya’s creativity isn’t limited to just fashion. In 2016, she started her own label, Chez G, which makes customized jewelry such as dental grills, pendants, and rings.

“We went through an incredible process of trial and error, and because jewelry-making consists of lots of trade secrets, it was hard to seek advice from other jewelers,” said the self-taught jeweler.

The fruits of Hanya’s labor have certainly paid off. Thanks to a relentless pushing of the label, Chez G is now worn by some of Singapore’s most stylish people including Saffron Sharpe and Sonia Chew.

“As a jeweler, accessories are the first things to catch my eye,” said Hanya. In that regard, she considers the G-SHOCK DW-5600 to be one of her favorite functional accessories. She cites the small face and tough quality of the watch that makes it her G-SHOCK of choice.

That comes as no surprise as the DW-5600 has grown to become an icon for many. The longest-selling G-SHOCK watch has a legacy that traces back to the very first G-SHOCK ever made – The DW-5000C.

Hanya, for one, certainly knows what it takes to grow and break out as an independent creative. On her plans for the future, she said, “I’ll continue sharing my style, jewelry and sneaker rotation on social media. And if that inspires more people, then that’s growth to me”.
