Star Wars fans brace yourself for a movie unexpected: Han Solo.
Han Solo, who first appeared on the big screen in 1977 in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, will receive his very own movie. The film will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord and written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan.
The story traces Han Solo’s road to becoming the thief whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi come to meet on their first encounter in Mos Eisley. Perhaps we will also get the chance to discover his first encounter with his co-pilot Chewbacca and the birth of the Millennium Falcon.
The film will be an intriguing take on Star Wars for the focus is not on the Jedi and Sith warriors we have come to love, but on a hero we fail to appreciate. Seeing Han Solo in his own movie will be refreshing for many Star Wars fans and a move not many would have expected as side-kick heroes don’t usually get the limelight in a movie.
“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”, said Lord and Miller.
The movie is set to release May 25th, 2018.
