There’s plenty of fashion apparel, accessories and sneakers to buy at Manifesto. While you’re there, check out the store’s architecture too.
Strolling into Manifesto, one can feel an emotion that is akin to the excitement of walking through an exhibition and knowing that there is something waiting for you beyond the corner. Part fashion boutique, part gallery and part alternative event venue, Walid Zaazaa’s brainchild has managed to fill the expansive 2,500 sq ft space with its subdued edge and classic French cool.
Being situated in the newly-launched Capitol Piazza, it’s hard to avoid the wonderment of browsing through the racks before a sunlit cityscape. Stocking over 60 brands, Manifesto prides itself on constantly bringing in new merchandise to maintain its trendy appeal. It brings in brands across a wide range, from luxury labels like Lemaire Costume National to classic streetwear houses such as Maison Kitsuné, and even niche contemporary brands like Opening Ceremony. On top of this, accessories, gadgets and lifestyle items add breadth to the mix.
The store itself is layered with artistic depth as a result of a collaboration between Zaazaa and Yann Follain of Wy-To Architects. The duo based the concept around clean lines, raw materials, abstract art and unique retail experiences – and the result is nothing short of intriguing and inspiring.
The pièce de résistance is the undulating central structure, a dynamic angled loop that conjures up both the image of a folded origami-like creation and a traditional loom. The centerpiece of the store acts as both a formidable structure and a sneaker bar – which reflects the store’s belief that sneakers are central to any closet.
Manifesto is located at Capitol Piazza, #02-19 (13 Stamford Road, Singapore 178905). Open hours are from 10.30am to 10pm daily.
