The 1906R, a popular 2000s runner silhouette, is back in brand new colorways that are exclusive to JD Sports. Named after the year that the company was founded in Boston, the performance runner represented the best in running technologies the brand had to offer at the beginning of the new millennium.
Contained within the midsole are cushioning technologies that make it incredibly comfortable. The ABZORB midsole offers the perfect combination of responsiveness and cushioning while the N-ergy rubber outsole ensures you never lose traction on any surface.
The comfort of the midsole is complemented by the light and breathable upper on the 1906R. It is constructed out of mesh, which allows air to flow freely and offers some stretch for wearers with wider feet. Intricate leather overlays give the shoe a cozy amount of lockdown and add some structure to the upper. Combined with a padded ankle collar and lace fastening, the sneaker offers a snug fit that never feels too restrictive.
For both colorways, New Balance showcases its mastery over the color grey. The “Slate Grey” colorway boasts a contrasting combination of grey leather overlays on a white mesh base which emphasizes its Y2K roots. On the other hand, the “White Raincloud” colorway offers a monotone look with color-matched layers of mesh and leather.
For the launch of these new colorways, JD Sports and New Balance brought together US International and Juventus Footballer Tim Weah, British rap icon Loyle Carner, rising superstar Redveil and multi-talented RnB singer A.Girl. Through their Boston-based shoot, the brand ambassadors showcase how the 1906R transcends countries, cultures and crafts.
The four new colorways of the New Balance 1906R are now exclusively available at JD Sports stores and JDSports.com.sg. Both pairs retail for S$229 and are available in both men’s and women’s sizes.
