“Pressure makes rings” is exemplified by Kawhi Leonard’s buzzer-beating four-bounce shot that sent the Raptors to the Eastern Conference Finals. In that moment, the 2019 Kobe Bryant All-Star MVP trophy recipient solidified himself as a force to be reckoned with. As a celebration of his astronomical rise, New Balance will introduce the Kawhi 4 Bounces on August 20.
The sneaker is named after that four-bounce shot, but that’s not the only element the NBA star’s moves inspired. The overall colorway is taken directly from the OMN1S sneakers he wore when he made the iconic shot. His 1964 Chevy Impala is also referenced in the golden eyelets and quilted heels, inspired by the car’s rear lights and interior, respectively. To top it all off, Kawhi’s accolades have been imprinted on the tongue while an “M” motif appears on the heel as a reference to his hometown in Moreno Valley, California.
The New Balance Kawhi 4 Bounces is designed to be a versatile court sneaker. Its Fuelcell midsole and full-length spring plate provide immense energy return, making it perfect for seamless full-court play. The tech extends up to the uppers, which are constructed out of Kinetic Stitch. The patterns on these panels are designed by data that ensures the threading provides sufficient support and lockdown where needed.
The New Balance Kawhi 4 Bounces drops alongside a lifestyle pack that includes an NB850, NB220 slides and an apparel collection.
