Nigel Sylvester was spotted donning these black Nike Air Jordan 1s at the launch of his new book on 11th October. Our excitement was short-lived as it has been confirmed that this is a gift from the Jordan Brand to congratulate him for his book launch. Like optimistic sneakerheads, we’re holding out hope that these will hit shelves in the coming years.

This black colorway of his Air Jordan 1 revisits some key elements from its prior model. In this iteration, the body is fitted with black leather uppers and white leather Swoosh with scuffs and discolorations to emulate the dirt of BMX tracks similar to the predecessor, the original Nigel Sylvester Air Jordan 1 in white.

A mini-second Swoosh peeks out at the lateral portion of the mudguard. Other details that complete the look include a yellowed midsole capping with a red outsole.

Nigel Sylvester has had tie-ins with Nike since his sponsorship began in 2005, leading to his first official collaboration shoe in 2018. Dubbed the Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 1 High OG, it propelled his name in the sneaker world thanks to the iconic distressed and yellowed-out signature look. Dropping at the height of the AJ1 hype, Nigel Sylvester led massive crowds on a scavenger hunt for a chance to score these kicks ahead of its official release.
