Update: March 20, 4:10 pm (Singapore time)
According to a media alert, due to the Singapore Ministry of Health’s mandate that all ticketed cultural, sports and entertainment events with 250 participants or more are to be deferred or cancelled based on the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, Sneaker Con Southeast Asia, set to take place at Marina Bay Sands Exhibition Halls E and F on June 20 and 21, 2020, has been postponed until further notice.
This is the real McCoy. Sneaker Con Singapore will be brought to you by the creators of the Sneaker Con, “The Greatest Sneaker Show on Earth”, who are responsible for over 100 events in more than 30 cities worldwide. The Singapore edition is presented by JD Sports, the sports and fashion retail giant from the UK with doors in Southeast Asia.
More excitingly, Sean Wotherspoon is stepping in to play the role of artistic director for Sneaker Con Southeast Asia. He will be designing the official merchandise – ranging from t-shirts to swimming trunks – to be sold at the event.
“We are working with Sean Wotherspoon as Creative Director in Singapore,” Alan Vinogradov, co-founder of Sneaker Con, told Straatosphere. “Mark Ong [of SBTG] is coming with him and we have got other surprises, we are gonna go all out for Singapore!”
The event format is one that you’ll be familiar with; it’s buy, sell, and trade some of the most sought-after footwear in the world. Details as to how you can sell and trade sneakers have yet to be announced. As for buying, no one ever needed an instructional on how to do this.
Sneaker Con Singapore promises to make authenticity an important consideration. Regardless of whether money has been exchanged, Legit Check is a free authentication service offered to everyone at the convention. Once your shoes pass the Legit Check, a plastic NFC-enabled “Legit Tag” will be attached to them.
In addition to the above, visitors can check out the marketplace, panel discussions, and an Ace of Customs segment in which sneaker customizers compete.
Sneaker Con Southeast Asia will be the largest edition in the world to target multiple markets at a single event. It hopes to draw fans from Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and beyond.
