1) “One Nasi Lemak with a sunny-side-up egg on top!”
This nasi lemak ‘fit definitely earns a place on StraatSpots. Like the dish, simplicity is the key. Replicating the perfect combination of vibrant colors from the fragrant dish of coconut rice, eggs and a dash of sambal atop a sheet of banana leaf, this outfit has it all.
2) Bling it on
Clean and bling, you can’t ask for more. The CDG x Nike Shox is definitely a head-turner.
3) From L.A. and Chicago to Malaysia
Peep this Nike SB Air Jordan 1 L.A. Lakers to Chicago that made an appearance at the Sneakerlah 2019 event. The sneaker is still fresh, without the wear and tear that would otherwise reveal the Chicago colorway underneath.
4) Human-made for the culture
Malaysia’s biggest sneaker event is human-made possible by founder Bryan and his team. Here’s Bryan with his Day 1 flex featuring the Human Made x Adidas Pharrell Hu NMD.
5) All Swooshed up
You could not walk around Sneakerlah 2019 without spotting this year’s hottest collaboration on-feet. This attendee took the doubled elements a step further with matching Nike Swoosh socks too.
6) “It’s lit!”
Travis Scott’s stock can’t possibly get any higher, having already bagged the big prize at the BET Hip Hop Awards this year. Also, with a growing influence in the sneaker scene, his Jordan collaborations are probably the hardest to cop. Fortunately, we spotted some on feet at the Sneakerlah 2019 event.
7) The flower power of art and streetwear
What is it about streetwear and art that go so well together? The proof is in this ‘fit. From the Mona Lisa Off-White tee to the Balenciaga Triple S sneakers topped off with a Takashi Murakami flower pin, it’s the perfect marriage between street style and art.
8) Don’t walk the flex. Bounce.
We saw sneakers of all kinds at Sneakerlah 2019: hype, rare and perhaps even the impossible. But without a doubt, we didn’t expect to see this YRU pair spotted on one attendee.
9) Draped in Bape
These Bape x Adidas NMDs arrived when the NMD craze was still well and truly alive in 2016. Would you still wear them in 2019 if you had one? We would.
10) Wild drip on the loose
Granted, this look is not for everybody. But it certainly was one of the most eye-catching ‘fits at the event last weekend. This streetwear maven paired a luminous reflective jacket and pants with the legendary Jeremy Scott x Adidas Instinct Hi. How long has it been since you’ve spotted one of these sneakers? But don’t roll the years back just yet. Look forward! There’s still next year’s Sneakerlah to dress up for.
