Wu-Tang Clan may arguably be one of the most important rap groups in modern history, introducing a new sound and marketing scheme to the game. Having ruled the ’90s with their debut LP, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), Clarks has decided to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the album with a special Wu edition of the Wallabee.
Members such as Ghostface Killah and Raekwon helped to build the popularity of the Wallabees back then, putting their own spin on the silhouette by dyeing them all kinds of crazy colors. This time, Clarks hands the group their very own editions – three to be exact. The Wu-Tang x Clarks Wallabee collaboration will come in yellow with brown accents, maple with navy and an all black iteration. The sneakers were made in conjunction with Charles F. Stead – one of the most respected tanners of suede leather in the world. That said, you can expect some of the highest quality materials from this capsule.
Wu-Tang also puts their stamp, quite literally, on the sneaker through branding on the medial side of the heel as well as behind the tongue. Besides the Wu-Tang logo on the heel, the right tongue features the release date of the album – 9 November 1993 – while the left tongue features the LP name “Enter The Wu-Tang”. There are also co-branded hangtags to cap off the Wu-Tang x Clarks Wallabee collaboration.
The capsule collection will be dropping on November 23, which is also Black Friday, and will retail at USD$190. There is no news of a local release just yet but watch this space for updates.
