Recap: PUMA Blaze Spring/Summer 2016 Launch Party

Celebrities, media personalities and even a headline-grabbing footballer were present at the launch of the Blaze, the latest sneaker to join PUMA’s stellar line-up of lifestyle footwear.

On February 4th, PUMA launched the Blaze Spring/Summer 2016 collection to Southeast Asia in Singapore. The Blaze takes cues from the Blaze of Glory, a popular model first introduced in the 90s, while retaining the brand’s signature interplay of plastic and plush materials on the upper. The low-top sneaker also features Trinomic technology, and its streamlined design provides a clean and contemporary look.

Media personalities, influencers and even football players Jermaine Pennant (Tampines Rovers) and Isa Halim (Geylang International) showed up to the party held at Manifesto store at Capitol Piazza.

A highlight of the event was the pop-up photo exhibition, which showed off the Blaze in a myriad of stunning visuals conceptualized and created by six photographers: Aik Soon Lee, Lenne Chai, Marc Tan, Ng Wei Jiang, Thaddeus Lim and an anonymous contributor.

“With the PUMA Blaze being our key silhouette for this season, we wanted to take this opportunity to showcase the fun and uninhibited side of the brand,” said Gabriel Yap, Head of Marketing PUMA Southeast Asia. “It was fantastic to see such an interesting and diverse mix of perspectives and we would like to thank the talented photographers for collaborating with us!”

Designated “shoefie” stations also gave rise to many Instagram-worthy moments, where individuals eagerly slipped on the Blaze, posed for pictures and had their photos screened on a wall of Instagram cubes.

The photo exhibition remains open for public viewing from now till Thursday, February 18th. While you’re there, snap a picture of the PUMA Blaze on your feet at the “shoefie” stations, and hashtag your photo #pumablazesg. You might just walk away with a pair of the Blaze if you’re lucky.

The PUMA Blaze SS16 collection is now available at Manifesto, Leftfoot and Limited Edt stores. The shoes retail between $169 and $179 a pair.
