Your chance to check out what went down on the Malaysia and Singapore leg of the Aaron Kai World Tour in March this year.
While post-pop artist Aaron Kai was back in Hong Kong last week to launch his first solo show “Vices” at the contemporary and urban art gallery Above Second, his team rolled out the Aaron Kai World Tour Episode 3 video, which documents the artist’s visit to Malaysia and Singapore in March this year.
On the Malaysian leg of the Aaron Kai Official World Tour, Aaron spent time on the trendy SS15 strip, tried banana leaf rice (a traditional method of serving food in South Indian cuisine) and also received plenty of airtime on TV and radio.
While in Singapore, in addition to trying Tiger Beer and taking long walks down by the Singapore River, Aaron also launched a pop-up store at Sup Clothing on Haji Lane, where a selection of his art was displayed alongside a capsule collection of his collaborative headwear with Official.
Like all parties hosted at Sup Clothing, the launch of the pop-up store turned into a massive street party with free-flowing booze, dope beats by DJ Koflow, and plenty of cool people.
The video, shot by David Camarena (@davidcamarena), a young, talented director from the Bay Area who’s at the helm of a string of prolific music videos for the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Berner and Kehlani, features appearances by Aaron’s manager Aaron Lau; Official brand manager Jason Peret; Straatosphere co-founder and editor Haikal Bakar and Kim Hana, respectively; Sup Clothing owner Jacky Chia; and photographer Anton Lim, better known as Mellowedhigh.
Watch the video above and check out Aaron Kai’s work here. If you happen to be in Hong Kong, drop by Above Second to check out Aaron’s first solo exhibition, on from now till June 20th.
Episodes 1 and 2 of the Aaron Kai World Tour are available on aaronkai.com.
