The Adidas Yeezy 1020V boot might be the first sneaker to achieve Kanye’s aim of creating a functional, laceless sneaker.

Besides the music, the Adidas Yeezy 1020V boot took centerstage at the Donda listening party at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Its bright orange colorway was hard to miss when paired with Ye’s all-red outfit.

Kanye drew from basketball and street style influences when designing the two-tone boot. He gave it a molded silhouette reinforced with heavy padding all across the upper, reminiscent of sneakers like the Nike Foamposite.

Branding is cleverly incorporated into its design, as per many other Yeezy silhouettes. In this case, the three-stripes logo comes in the form of padded detailing on the midfoot.

Just like many other Adidas running and trekking models, the Yeezy 1020 boot will come with a Continental rubber outsole for added durability and grip. The only explicit Adidas branding appears in the center of the rugged outsole.

The boot’s zip-up design is in keeping with Kanye’s vision of a laceless future. In a segment on the Joe Rogan Experience, Kanye revealed that he has been aiming to create sneakers that do not require laces. Using carefully constructed uppers or single booty constructions, most existing Yeezy sneakers do not require laces to offer lockdown. The Adidas Yeezy 1020V, however, will be the first Yeezy sneaker to come without any laces or an option to add them in.
