Carhartt WIP and New Balance are back with a new collaboration based on the recently unveiled 990v6. Their iteration of the sneaker beautifully incorporates workwear aesthetics that made the Carhartt WIP brand a staple in streetwear space. 

The collaborative sneaker by Carhartt WIP and New Balance, named “Sculpture Center,” seamlessly aligns with the current demand for robust and chunky walking shoes. Additionally, its neutral beige color palette lends it a timeless appeal.

Construction of the Carhartt WIP 990v6 “Sculpture Center” 

The upper is constructed out of a dark gray mesh base layered with brown suede panels and an oversized “N” logos prominently adorning the sidewalls. Instead of the usual “990v6” branding found on the tongue, it proudly displays “Carhartt” and “Work in Progress” to emphasize the collaboration.

Continuing the neutral color scheme is an Encap midsole in cream and beige color. To enhance comfort and cushioning, Fuelcell technology, typically reserved for New Balance running shoes, has been integrated into the Encap midsole.

A distinct “Made in USA” badge graces the heel and delivers the finishing touch. Moreover, this pair comes packaged in a special box and includes an extra set of olive green laces, which will be a thoughtful addition appreciated by those looking for customization options. 

Other New Balance 990v6 collaborations

Despite the 990v6 being a relatively “new” silhouette that made its debut late last year, it has managed to capture considerable attention. In April, the renowned rapper, chef, wrestler and TV host Action Bronson dropped two colorways of the 990v6 and, just last month, the iconic Japanese streetwear brand Wtaps unveiled an understated all-grey iteration.

It is said that it may be available on Carhartt and New Balance official websites, as well as at select retailers worldwide. This pair will arrive accompanied by a huge collection of gym apparel.
