DJ Khaled helped unveiled the revival of the 2006 Clot x Nike Air Max Kiss of Death in an Instagram post. In the post, he gave audiences a complete look at the new sneaker while expressing gratitude to Nike.
Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese medicine, the sneaker gets an icy transparent outsole that reveals a foot reflexology chart printed onto the midsole. Other visible areas of the midsole come in bright orange.
Contrasting the midsole is a subdued beige and maroon upper. Accenting key design elements are hits of green on the tongue tab branding and orange on the embroidered logo on the heel cap.
Though most of the construction remains identical, including the use of ostrich leather and suede, Nike gave the 2021 re-release a maroon heel cap and a new insole print – differentiating the two drops.
Return of the iconic toebox: One detail Nike did not skip out on is the inclusion of the transparent panel around the toe box and midfoot.
Final note: This is a sneaker that is meant for history books. It’s a daring collaboration that merges western design and eastern culture into a single sneaker – making it a sneaker worth coping just to keep in your collection. An amazing follow-up to the Clot x Air Jordan 14 Low Terracotta.
