The Converse x Dr Woo Reveal collection encourages wearers to tear, cut, and shred their Chucks.
(From L to R): Green Absinthe, Horizon Blue, Mellon, Sunset Gold
Dr Woo is a well-known tattoo artist who has inked celebrities including Disney sweetheart Miley Cyrus and rapper Drake. For his latest collab with Converse, Dr Woo conveys his love of art through the iconic Converse Chuck 70 shoe.
Dubbed the “Reveal” collection, the pack delivers four iterations of the Converse Chuck 70 shoes. Colorways offered are Sunset Gold, Green Absinthe, Mellon and Horizon Blue. Inspired by vintage clothing, the shoes’ outer are designed to break down and reveal another layer of hand-drawn canvas below. This allows wearers to shred and redesign the shoes to create a unique and personalized statement piece.
Woo believes that the sneakers we purchase is just the beginning of its journey. “The way you receive your shoe is not the end game. It is fully pliable and moldable to, however, the wearer wants to wear it. Putting your shoe through that is the reward — seeing how it gets beat up,” said Woo (source).
Despite the tear away outer, the shoes are made with three layers of GORE-TEX fabric, making it highly durable. Other essential qualities include a translucent rubber sole as well as shoelaces in a color complementary to the upper.
The shoes will be available in Singapore from September 6 at Converse Takashimaya (391A Orchard Rd). The shoes retail at S$159.90 per pair.
