The Futuremade Studio (FTMD) x Vans collab uses old-school colors applied to classic skate kicks to create footwear that has universal appeal. The collab that recently dropped on August 17 features two iconic Vans silhouettes, the Sk8 Low and Halfcab. The two silhouettes are known as skateboard sneakers and are a common sight in skateparks in Malaysia and Singapore. This collab makes them more accessible to everyone by using a more neutral and classical color palette that can easily be worn by anyone on any day, any occasion.

The Sk8 Low comes in an earthy brown color with a rustic “Olden” yellow sole to create a vintage look. The Vans logo tag on the tongue of the sneaker uses chain stitch embroidery to pay homage to the values of FTMD and what they stand for. Before finally ending off with a blue foxing tape around the sole that gives the sneaker a nice colour contrast. 

The Halfcab on the other hand comes in a light beige color to create a fresh and clean look. It also uses the same Vans logo tag as the Sk8 Low to echo the same message. Both sneaker silhouettes come with embedded soles that showcase the FTMD logo.

Where to find one

The FTMD x Vans Sk8 Low and Half Cab dropped at selected Vans stores and the Vans Singapore Online store for a retail price of S$125 and S$129 respectively. Unfortunately at the time of publishing, only a limited set of sizes and pairs are left. If you are unable to find sizes online you can try your luck by going down to the Vans outlets in person. It hasn’t even been a whole week since the collab dropped and yet some are already reselling the sneakers on Goat for over S$300 in most sizes. It should come as no surprise considering the growing fan base behind the Malaysian brand and the universal approach to design on these classic Vans sneakers.
