Reinventing the commuting bicycle has certainly served Coast Cycles well, as they brought home an award that signifies an innovation milestone.
We fondly remember our chat with Coast Cycles’ owner Jansen Tan, who spoke candidly about his love for cycling, the bicycle models that he designed and his aspirations for the brand. One year on, Coast Cycles has gone on to win the Red Dot Award for Design Concept 2015.
The award-winner is The Quinn cargo bicycle, and here’s why: The compact, commuting bicycle stands out from its equivalents with a strategically-located storage compartment.
It fits a wide range of bags, and its position keeps the additional weight near the bicycle’s center of gravity, offering more stability to the rider and assurance that belongings are in place.
The award’s criteria is based on how successful a company is in producing exciting new design concepts over time, as well as how sustainable the company’s design and innovation capability is.
But don’t just take our word for it; head down to Coast Cycles (54 Siglap Drive) and take the Quinn out for a spin.
