Facebook’s family of apps, which includes Instagram and Whatsapp, stopped functioning for many users worldwide earlier today. In this day and age when social media apps have become a part of everyone’s lives, it seemed like a bit of a nightmarish experience. But thank god there’s still Twitter. The trending topics “Facebook down” and “Instagram down” generated over a million tweets in total. In a twist of irony, Facebook itself had to take to Twitter to update its users about the outage. At the time of writing, most of the features on the affected apps are up and running. But let’s take a look at all the reactions and jokes stemming from the company’s most severe outage in history.
It was, in fact, a glimpse into the apocalypse
I love how everyone is treating a half day without Facebook and instagram like we are in the pilot episode of “The Walking Dead”

Facebook confirmed that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack. Maybe they’re right. It must be something else.

While some users indulged in some wishful thinking…

For others, the situation was tougher than expected

But at the end of the day, make what you will with this interesting fact
It’s the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web, and Facebook and Instagram are down. Happy anniversary.
