The Mad Paris x 1017 Alyx 9SM Audemars Piguet highlights Alyx’s popular signature hardware – the Rollercoaster Buckle.

Matthew M Williams and luxury watch customizer, Mad Paris, have taken to Instagram to tease an exciting upcoming collaboration. The Instagram posts feature luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak in a classy and sophisticated all-black edition, with co-branding on the watch face. While elegant, what makes this new timepiece truly unique is its piece de resistance: the iconic 1017 Alyx 9SM’s Rollercoaster Buckle.

As we’ve seen, anything Matthew M Williams puts the Rollercoaster Buckle on becomes instantly desirable. Besides belts, the quick-release buckle has also been incorporated onto bags, phone holders, bracelets, and – believe it or not – swimsuits too. Even Dior Homme Creative Director Kim Jones has bought into the hype, enlisting Matthew M Williams to collaborate on a range of accessories and bags featuring the Rollercoaster Buckle.

Putting the in-demand buckle on an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is an unprecedented move. So don’t expect this special edition Mad Paris x 1017 Alyx 9SM Audemars Piguet timepiece to even be remotely affordable – unless you have over S$27,000 in the bank. If you’re asking us, we’re content to admire this exquisite creation from afar.
