Netflix’s plans to go airborne has yet to materialize for now, but its expansion into Asia is as real as it gets.
The streaming service has just announced that it will expand into Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan in early 2016.
“As the central hub in Southeast Asia, Singapore is a sophisticated and diverse place that will find much to love about the Netflix service,” Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told Channel NewsAsia.
If you don’t already know, Netflix lets subscribers watch a curated selection of popular TV shows and movies in high-definition or even Ultra HD 4K on nearly any Internet-connected screen. It’s also the platform responsible for wildly successful original series including “House of Cards” and “Orange Is The New Black”.
No word on pricing or programming for now, but consumers can sign up to be alerted once Netflix launches in their country.
