Self-lacing sneakers aren’t exactly new territory for Nike. Besides the elusive Nike Air Mags, we’ve already seen the sportswear giant widen the gap from its competitors with mass-market models. The inaugural HyperAdapt gave a glimpse to the future while the Adapt BB – which launched earlier in 2019 specifically for basketball – signaled a massive shift for performance sneakers. But its next one, the Nike Adapt Huarache, will be the first time Nike upgrades a classic lifestyle silhouette with the revolutionary technology.
Despite the name, the Nike Adapt Huarache retains only a semblance of its original model’s shape, with a few modern tweaks. These include a streamlined overall silhouette, minimal branding, an extended tongue along with a unique translucent cage connecting to the new wire-like lacing system.
The lifestyle sneaker’s self-lacing function can be activated simply by using the accompanying smartphone app first introduced for the Adapt BB. But now, the future of sneakers is certainly looking smarter with a new option to utilize Apple’s Siri voice commands on the iPhone or q Watch for on-the-go fit adjustment. Plus, you can even personalize the experience with different modes and settings – a must-have feature, especially for everyday lifestyle sneakers.
If you’re already excited for this, don’t fret. You won’t have to wait much longer for it. The Nike Adapt Huarache will officially launch on September 13 on Nike SNKRS and selected retailers. Keep tabs on this page for more information when they arrive.
