Nike celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Air Force 1 with the “Color of the Month” pack that honors a crucial piece of AF1 history. While hard to imagine the AF1 ever going out of style, it nearly faded into obscurity in the 1980s, soon after its debut. Enter three Baltimore sportswear merchants, Charm City, Blinken and Rudo, that came up with the idea to release a different color of the Air Force 1 every month. This led to an increased demand for the Air Force 1s, thus the AF1 never went the way of the dinosaurs.

The Nike Air Force 1 Anniversary Edition features a number of embroidered details. You won’t miss the embroidery on the tongue in curvy gold text that reads “Anniversary Edition”. The embroidered “Nike Air”, an OG Nike Air Force 1 element, is seen on the heel counter.

Nike is serious about you keeping this shoe clean. In fact, it comes with a toothbrush with a Swoosh logo and the words “Since 1982” on it.
