It looks like Virgil Abloh’s association with Nike is here to stay. The partnership – which started with the groundbreaking “The Ten” collection in 2017 – will continue into 2020 with another sneaker collaboration lined up: the Air Jordan 5. Virgil’s upcoming approach features toned down touches to commemorate the silhouette’s 30th anniversary – a stark contrast to the bold “Athlete in Progress” collection. @hanzuying has taken to Instagram with on-feet images of the Off-White x Air Jordan 5 sneaker, showing off the different lace color variations as well.
As expected, Off-White’s signature deconstructed design elements feature heavily, with synthetic material cladding the uppers, panels and laces marked with text, as well as the iconic zip-tie. The sneaker’s heritage is preserved with MJ’s “23” featuring on the outer heels and “Nike Air” emblazoned on the rear. To compensate for the toned-down colorway, Virgil takes advantage of the sneaker’s oversized tongue by introducing a reflective and metallic finish for that irresistible flashy touch. Must cop? You’ll have to wait for the All-Star Weekend happening in February 2020 to snap these up.
Now that it’s clear the Off-White x Air Jordan 5 will come with three different colored laces, the real question is, which combination works best? Leave a comment below.
