Nike’s latest creation comes in the form of an unlikely collaboration between cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants and basketballer Kyrie Irving. The two have teamed up for a five-shoe collection modeled after the five main characters of the beloved cartoon series. The star of the show, SpongeBob SquarePants, is represented by the Nike Kyrie 5 silhouette outfitted in bright yellow with golden dots. Other characters, like Patrick Starr and Squidward Tentacles, come in the Nike Kyrie 5 model as well but in a two-tone pink and soft blue colorway respectively. A key design highlight for the Kyrie 5 renditions is the Venus Flytrap-inspired lacing unit stamped with the Nickelodeon logo.
The Kyrie Low 2 makes an appearance as well for characters like Krusty Krab owner Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob’s favorite astronaut squirrel Sandy Cheeks. Mr. Krabs’ rendition of the Kyrie Low 2 comes in a bright red upper that is complemented with gold, jade, and blue accents. The Sandy Cheeks Kyrie Low 2 seems to be the least wild of the lot with a muted down white and grey colorway inspired by the character’s astronaut suit. The subtle detail of a pink flower can be found on its midfoot overlay.
