The mastermind behind some of the world’s beloved superheroes had been battling pneumonia.

Stan Lee had started Marvel with Jack Kirby back in 1961, beginning with the Fantastic Four. The duo then followed that success with the creation of the X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and more.

Following the death of his wife, Joan, last year, Lee has been involved in a few legal problems. He sued the executives of his own company, POW! Entertainment, for fraud. There were also rumors of Lee being the victim of elderly abuse from his caretaker and family.

Lee’s daughter, J.C., in light of her father’s passing, stated, “My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man.” (Source)

Having been a big part of the ideation and creation of many of the superheroes, Lee has been known to make a cameo in every Marvel movie, something avid Marvel fans would look out for. Sadly, Lee’s passing means the end of cameos unless a hologram comes to save the day.
