The new Adidas NMD R1 PK “Yellow”, which drops January 14, bears striking similarity to Pharrell’s very first Hu NMD.

Just like the first Pharrell Hu NMD from 2016, this 2021 rendition comes with a full Primeknit yellow upper paired with round yellow laces. It also comes with a white Boost midsole, black plugs and a white outsole.

The difference lies in the absence of Pharrell’s signature insole, midfoot cage and heel branding. Also, the embroidered text on the midfoot of the sneaker comes in yellow threading rather than black, as seen on the 2016 edition.

A reminder that earlier Hu NMD were and remain highly coveted: Though Pharrell’s latest creations aren’t as hyped and the NMD has become a general release, earlier Hu NMD silhouettes can fetch over S$2,000 a pair on the resell market.
