Singaporean R&B delight bittymacbeth (real name Beth Yap) has recently released a music video for “Beauty for Ashes”, a track from her debut album of the same name.
The track, “Beauty for Ashes” was conceived after the songstress went through a rough patch that took her away from her loved ones. The video illustrates the journey of a potter who goes through cycles of creating and destroying in order to make way for something greater, showcasing how sometimes people break so they can be made into something beautiful.
Without all the extra frills and fantastical effects, the video really hones in on what’s truly important and lets the song speak for itself.
For those who aren’t familiar with bittymacbeth, she’s already performed an all-kill on Singapore’s R&B/Soul charts upon the release of her album just last May. Fronting her one-woman band, she composes, arranges and co-produces all her work. Jazz sensibilities are placed in perfect alignment with thrumming basslines and topped with her soulful vocals.
