CASIO adds a quieter, more considered chapter to its VINTAGE line with the A140WE series, a watch that leans on decades of digital timekeeping heritage without simply repeating it. Where past reissues have traded on nostalgia alone, the A140WE folds in a genuinely new finish, giving the familiar retro-digital silhouette a reason to feel current again.

That new finish is a sunray-brushed digital face, the detail that separates the A140WE from the rest of the VINTAGE lineup. Catch it under changing light and the dial shifts subtly in tone, playing metallic texture against the flat geometry of the digital display. It’s a small mechanical trick that adds real depth to what would otherwise be a plain, minimalist face.

The series launches in three colourways, each pitched at a slightly different register. The A140WE-2ADF pairs a deep navy sunray dial with a polished silver-tone chrome case and bracelet, a two-tone read that brings colour into the retro-digital brief without tipping it into loud territory. The A140WE-8ADF pulls back further, setting a dark grey sunray dial against a silver-toned case for a clean, monochrome finish. At the top of the range, the A140WEG-9ADF goes fully gold, with an ion-plated bracelet and case wrapped around a gold sunray dial, pushing the retro-digital format into its most dressed-up form yet.

The case stays true to the VINTAGE playbook: a softly curved 39.0 x 36.8 x 10.4 mm shell in chrome-plated resin, kept light at just 60 grams so it disappears on the wrist through a full day of wear. Inside is Module 3298, which adds a 1/100-second stopwatch for elapsed, split and first-to-second-place timing on top of the everyday essentials, a daily alarm, hourly time signal, electro-luminescent backlight for low-light readability, and an auto-calendar that keeps track of month lengths on its own. The display switches between 12- and 24-hour formats, the case is rated to 30 metres of water resistance, and a CR2016 battery keeps it running for roughly seven years before it needs a change.

Underneath the finish, the A140WE stays true to what has made CASIO Vintage a wardrobe staple: a light, resin-built case, a module built for actual daily use, and a battery life measured in years rather than months. It’s a watch designed to be worn without a second thought, even as the sunray dial gives people plenty of reasons to look twice.

The CASIO Vintage A140WE-2ADF, A140WE-8ADF and A140WEG-9ADF are available now in Singapore at G-SHOCK stores (Takashimaya, ION, Jewel, Bugis, Vivocity, Northpoint and JEM), Casio.com, and authorised CASIO retailers.
