Update: February 5, 12:30pm (Singapore time)
You can now cop a pair at Dover Street Market Singapore for S$590 and is only available in-store.
Rei Kawakubo has a knack for taking tried-and-tested sneakers and re-inventing them for Comme des Garçons’ latest collections. In October 2019, her take on the SB Dunk Low caused a stir due to its flat tongue. This time, she took on the Japanese favorite – Air Max 95. The end result is a pre-distressed Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Max 95 that quickly became a highlight at Paris Fashion Week. The sneaker almost immediately got a release date, dropping quickly on January 18 at Dover Street Market New York.
The sneaker from the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus collection comes in three grey-scale colorways – black, white and black/white/grey – that match the rest of the collection. The uppers of all three sneakers are structured to create a distressed vibe.
Instead of the smooth leather and suede uppers we are all familiar with, the sneaker is wrapped with tulle fabric that reveals glimpses of the foam tubing underneath. This aesthetic fits perfectly with the rest of the Homme Plus collection. The sneaker comes with classic midsoles in matching white or black.
The sneaker first dropped at DSM New York for US$350 (approx. S$472.21). We have not gotten confirmation for a drop at DSM Singapore, so stay tuned for updates.
