ComplexCon, Complex’s first annual cultural festival, will have the likes of Pharrell Williams and Takashi Murakami at the helm.
Pharrell Williams has been identified as the cultural director and host committee chair. It is said he will utilize his creative collective and label, I am OTHER, to unite various facets of pop culture including art, music, food, style and sports.
Contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has been put in charge of designing the event’s brand identity, on top of being a host committee member.
“Complex is about celebrating this generation’s voices and creatives. We wanted to bring the spirit and energy of our brand to life, beyond just the Internet,” says Marc Ecko, former fashion designer and now, founder of Complex.
“That is what ComplexCon is about. It is an experiential vision of the future. Our audience, and all the contributors that shape our shared universe of content are some of the most influential people in the world. Period.”
Tickets cost USD$35 for one day and USD$60 for the whole weekend with panels in the day and concerts (at an additional fee) at night.
The convention will be held at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Centre, a 3,000-seater hall.
ComplexCon is produced in partnership with Reed Pop, also the creators of the wildly popular Comic Con.
