Converse joins Nike and Foot Locker, setting up shop at the modern landmark that is Jewel Changi Airport. The new store will be a flagship for Converse, where the brand will offer their widest selection of footwear, apparel and accessories in Singapore.

All-Star sustainability

Converse goes green with its new flagship store, opting for a sustainable approach to the design of the space. To draw attention to this effort, Converse collaborated with the artist Tan Zi Xi (@messymsxi) to create a “breathing” mural that’s very much in step with Converse’s City Forest global movement — a celebration of social progress through sustainable art.

Though it may look simple at first glance, Tan’s mural has deep meaning centered on the phrase “Let Equality Bloom”. It features an array of colorful flora and fauna that carries the message of growth, tolerance, empathy and the acceptance of diversity.

Tan opted to use photocatalytic paint from Graphenstone, a specialized paint that emulates the air purifying properties of trees. It’s worth noting that her mural replicates the effects of nine matured trees.
