Held at CATO, the Darker Than Wax x Casio G-Shock launch saw the unveiling of the first ever collaboration between Casio and a music label.

The collaboration timepiece is a G-Shock GD-100 model that incorporates features like DTW’s slogan (“We Move”) inscribed on the watch face and logo on the backlight.

At the event, the collaborators addressed several burning questions, including why the black and yellow color scheme was applied to the watch. According to them, the decision was inspired by the roots of black music, underground subculture, and “dirty” music.

An after-party was held right after the launch. In true DTW fashion, the party showcased a number of performances by artistes on the label’s roster including Deep Shoq (Lithuania) Maxx Mortimer (New Zealand), as well as Funk Bast*rd, Kaye, RAH, William J, Daryl C and more.

DTW is an electronic music label based out of Singapore. Its name is inspired by the idea that black music is pervasive, and that it has influenced countless genres and sub genres. This year the label celebrates its fifth anniversary.
