Anyone with even a faint interest in street culture and art will have heard of Futura, the legendary New York artist. Despite a career spanning 40 years, mesmerizing the world with his original creations, Constellation will be the first Futura art exhibition in Southeast Asia when it debuts on May 30.
“I’m getting super excited about my upcoming project in Singapore. The exhibition of my new work, entitled Constellation, is not just a reference to the stars in our universe, but also the mystery of my personal history and experiences in such a tropical paradise. I very much look forward to interacting with a new audience and sharing stories both past and present,” said the street culture legend.
Fittingly, the title of the exhibition, Constellation, pays homage to Futura’s first, brief experience passing through harbors of Singapore in 1974. Back then, the artist was a young navy officer onboard the USS Constellation. Expect the first Futura art exhibition in Singapore to feature 30 unique works utilizing a range of materials, along with bold, vibrant compositions that truly showcase the artist’s iconic style. Futura’s signature techniques will be on full display, including his inverted spray. A limited-edition catalog, stashed in custom designed ammo boxes, will be available for purchase at the exhibition.
Constellation will be presented by the private art salon, The Culture Story, and curated by Singapore’s biggest name in the art scene, Jahan Loh.
