Hiroshi Fujiwara continues to apply his subtle and tasteful design sensibilities to his collaborations with Jordan brand. This time around, he has taken a minimalistic approach to the Air Jordan 3 that’s reminiscent of his Air Jordan 1 collaboration.
The silhouette comes in an orca-like colorway, featuring black mudguard on a full white leather upper which visually splits the sneaker in half. An interesting element is the addition of the sneaker’s SKU code above the air unit of the sneaker. Perhaps the most valuable touch of all – the Fragment logo on the heel that is encased in a transparent Jordan brand logo.
The Fragment x Air Jordan 3 is part of a more extensive pack, which includes an Air Cadence and matching apparel. Collectively, the pack represents Fujiwara’s vision of creating future nostalgia, blending forward-thinking design with retro imagery.
On the apparel, we get a mix of the iconic Fragment logo and images of Michael Jordan from the ’80s. The graphics are applied to nylon blue and grey tracksuits that Nike issued back in the 1980s, which up the nostalgia factor.
The Air Cadence, on the other hand, has been designed as a future classic. This is achieved by applying a vintage-inspired all-grey colorway onto a brand new silhouette packed with Jordan brand’s latest lifestyle innovations.
