When it comes to underwater pursuits, where better to look for inspiration than amphibians? Amping up its Frogman origins, the latest watch to join the roster is inspired by the world’s largest frog, the Goliath frog.
Commonly found in the tropical rainforests of West Africa, the Goliath frog is a fitting source for Frogman inspiration – the existing line-up champions high-performance diving timepieces designed to take your dives further.
In a nod to its amphibian inspirations, the MRG-BF1000RG sports a khaki-green strap that fits in with G-Shock’s legacy of utilitarian design.
Beyond the green strap, every part of the watch’s palette is a tribute to the Goliath frog – the beige indexes nod to the frog’s underside, while the sapphire crystal fitted in the back screw-lock case is reminiscent of the frog’s eyes.
Expertly crafted in Japan, the MRG-BF1000RG is packed with the same technology we’ve come to expect from the Frogman family.
It’s clad in a titanium exterior with an asymmetric design. There’s a level of complexity to this piece that you’d expect from a diver’s watch, exemplified by the process by which each of its 70 components is separately crafted and meticulously polished.
The khaki-green strap is made from fluoro rubber that’s super soft and highly flexible to ensure a comfortable fit. It features an O-ring waterproof seal that continues Frogman’s reputation for superior water-resistance, as well as special buffers to strengthen the shock-resistant structure.
The MRG is a hard-wearing and hard-working watch – it’s shock resistant, water-resistant up to 200 metres, has stable solar power and is easy to operate via your smartphone. In dive mode, the hour and minute hands overlap to create a single hand for an easy-to-read display – this is next-level practical in the world of diving watches.
The G-Shock Frogman MRG-BF1000RG is now available in Singapore at Casio.com and selected G-Shock stores. The amphibious timepiece retails for S$6,299.
