G-SHOCK is taking toughness to the next level with its latest offering the GA-V01. The new addition to the brand’s line of durable, utilitarian watches reflects the same shock-resistant values that define G-SHOCK, with a new futuristic aesthetic.

Futuristic Functionality: The GA-V01 Tech

Marking a new chapter for G-SHOCK, the GA-V01 brings a fresh approach to design and construction. This new model is all about larger-than-life elements – the oversized dial embodies futuristic design cues, with its exaggerated display taking the shape of a butterfly in a nod to Y3K influences. Its shell-like exterior is formed with an integrated bezel and band, plus bumper-type indexes and side buttons. 

The main noteworthy tech on the GA-VO1? It features breakthrough technology in the form of the Shock Release Hand. This upgrade employs a magnetic holding structure to secure the minute shaft, allowing it to absorb and dissipate impact more festively. This innovation takes G-SHOCK’s signature shock absorption to the next level, while also adding a visually striking element of using larger hands on the watch face. 

In addition to these advances, the GA-V01 has the same shock-resistant structure that we’ve come to expect from the brand, plus a ten-year battery life for lasting performance. It’s available in four colorways: Black, Vibrant Neon Blue, Yellow and Silver Metallic.

Never Give Up: The G-SHOCK Legacy

Designed by Tomohiro Hamaue, the GA-V01 builds on G-SHOCK’s storied ‘Never Give Up’ mantra championed by the brand’s creator Kikuo Ibe. The mantra comes from Ibe’s desire to build an unbreakable watch, creating the first G-SHOCK in 1983. The GA-V01 nods to this legacy but looks to the future with its forward-thinking aesthetic.

Hamaue is the designer behind other Casio favourites, including the Rangeman GPR-H1000 and the MTG-B300, as well as being credited for inventing several Casio patents.

The GA-V01 will be available exclusively at Limited Edt Vault from 14 to 26 June, followed by a wider release at select G-SHOCK stores from 27 June onwards.
