There is a particular kind of watch that does not ask to be noticed. It does not shimmer under fluorescent lighting or beg for attention at the dinner table. Instead, it waits, composed, armoured, purposeful, for the moment the terrain turns hostile. The G-SHOCK MASTER OF G – LAND – MUDMASTER GG-B100XM Series is precisely that kind of watch.
CASIO It is a duo that builds on the tried-and-tested Mudmaster bloodline, now sharpened with stainless-steel bezels forged into a complex, multi-surfaced profile and loaded with Quad Sensor intelligence to keep its wearer oriented across whatever the earth throws underfoot. Keeping time is the prerequisite, but the GG-B100XM also keeps score – of altitude, direction, atmospheric pressure, temperature, and every step taken across the field.
CASIO The GG-B100XM arrives in two expressions, each occupying its own end of the tonal spectrum without losing the family resemblance. The GG-B100XM-1A leads with restraint. Its silver-coloured stainless-steel bezel carries a honed matte finish that drinks in the light rather than reflecting it. A deliberate choice that serves both function and form, reducing glare in the field while giving the watch a quietly commanding authority on the wrist.
CASIO Its counterpart, the GG-B100XMB-1A, takes a darker and more decisive turn. The black ion-plated bezel is mirror-polished to a refined metallic sheen, a surface treatment that delivers outstanding scratch resistance alongside a presence that translates just as fluently from trailhead to cityscape. Where the silver model whispers of fieldwork and function, the black reads like a relic pulled from a mission debrief: composed, covert, and calculating.
CASIO At the Mudmaster’s core is a carbon fibre-reinforced resin case operating as part of the Carbon Core Guard structure. High in rigidity, light on the wrist, and built to shrug off the kind of weather that would reduce a lesser watch to guesswork.
CASIO The philosophy extends outward with the same thoroughness. Gaskets seal every button against ingress; protective components run along the underside of the band; even the case back cover and movable band parts are formed from the same carbon fibre-reinforced resin, so durability is not a surface treatment but a skeleton. Dust, mud, and moisture find no entrance here, only deflection.
The GG-B100XM’s true fluency, however, is not in what it withstands but in what it perceives. Quad Sensor technology gives the watch four modes of environmental reading: a digital compass for orientation, an altimeter and barometer for tracking elevation and atmospheric shifts, and a thermometer that registers the ambient temperature around you.
To those four, an accelerometer layers in step counting, transforming the Mudmaster into something closer to a field analyst than a field tool.
CASIO Bluetooth connectivity loops the watch into your smartphone, enabling time correction, activity logging, and function control through a dedicated app. The kind of seamless handoff that means the watch does the thinking so you can focus on the terrain.
Illumination, too, has been engineered for extremes. The Super Illuminator high-brightness LED lights the dial with the kind of clarity that matters at altitude and in the dark, when the difference between reading a watch face and squinting at one is the difference between moving with confidence and moving with doubt.
