ASICS certainly means business when it comes to making running footwear, as exemplified by its latest shoe, the innovation-packed ASICS MetaRun.

What: ASICS MetaRun long distance running shoes.
Why: Engineered for performance in crucial aspects of running such as weight, stability, fit and cushioning, the ASICS MetaRun is packed with five groundbreaking technologies that benefit its wearer. These include Flytefoam, ASICS’ lightest midsole to date; AdaptTruss, a newly patented carbon reinforced adaptive stability system; MetaClutch, an exoskeleton external heel counter with built-in memory foam; Sloped DUOMAX, a dual density midsole that adjusts smoothly to dynamicmotion; and Optimized Upper that features a glove-like, one-layer Jacquard Mesh. The MetaRun gives the feet solid support, and, unlike many other running shoes, provides a cushioned feel throughout the sole (not just in the heels).
What else: Developed and fine-tuned over the course of three years, only 60,000 pairs of the ASICS MetaRun have been made available worldwide.
Gimme: Priced at S$399 each, limited pairs of the ASICS MetaRun are now exclusively available at ASICS’ running specialty store (Suntec City Mall, #02-476). The midsole of the sdhoes come in gold for men and rose gold for women.
