G-Shock is celebrating its first-ever watch with this new series, bringing inspiration from the original DW-5000C into the present with two new watches crafted entirely from metal.

The GMW-B5000D-1C and the GM-B2100SD-1C are built using the classic design language of their predecessor, but this time in sleek metal. This design update means these watches are perfectly placed for cosmopolitan cityscapes and rugged outdoor adventure.

The work behind these two timepieces is a testament to G-Shock’s enduring commitment to its craft. They’re constructed at the Yamagata Casio, the brand’s ’mother factory’ where the OG G-Shock was made, in a major full-circle moment.

The Full Metal Origin Series

There’s a meticulous process of forging, cutting and polishing to achieve that sleek finish on the bezel. The top surface has a hairline texture, and the angled surfaces are polished to a smooth mirror finish. This achieves an overall urbane look and feel that’s as well placed for the city as it is G-Shock’s traditional off-grid setting. Large dimples in each segment nod to the DW-5000C’s resin band, achieving a modern take on its rugged origins. 

In another nod to the DW-5000C, the two arches feature the same dial colours as the OG G-Shock: red, symbolising passion, blue to represent high water resistance and yellow to signify shock resistance. It’s these subtle design details that we love, paying homage to the first G-Shock while continuing to drive the watches into the future.

Of course, with every G-Shock design comes the same reputation for durability, water resistance and shock absorption. These two watches uphold these standards with their airtight screw-back design and fin resin cushioning built in between the bezel and the case.

From its carbon core guard structure to its water resistance, shock absorption and magnetic resistance, this Full Metal Origin series is ready for anything in the air, on land and at sea.
