G-SHOCK forges the MRG-B2000KT Limited Edition, a masterwork that unites the ancestral Japanese sword-smithing with cutting-edge horological precision. Each timepiece is painstakingly hand-engraved by master metal artisan Masao Kobayashi, a third-generation craftsman whose body of work spans decorative metal arts, shrine restoration, and tea ceremony implements.
CASIO Forged in tradition: The art of the blade
The MRG-B2000KT’s centerpiece is its hand-engraved bezel, where a phoenix in flight emerges through the traditional shishiai-bori carving technique. Inspired by a specially commissioned kurogane-tsuba iron guard of a Japanese katana, the phoenix, with its head on the left and tail on the right, symbolises good fortune, nobility, happiness, and longevity. Since each engraving is executed exclusively with hammer and chisel, no two watches are identical.
CASIO The titanium bezel is treated with a deep-layer hardening process and finished with a green DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating, materialising kurogane-iro, the refined dark blue-green hue that iron develops under extreme heat. Four emeralds of subtly different green shades set into the bezel screws add a sophisticated contrast, symbolising wisdom and clarity.
The case itself harnesses katana-blade principles through a crystallised titanium pattern formed by heating pure titanium to manifest the shimmering nie patterns seen on sword blades. Finished in brown AIP (arc ion plating), it mirrors the warm coppery tones of traditional sword mountings.
The dial brings this narrative further: a red-to-orange gradation evokes the phoenix’s brilliant plumage, while a stylised arrow fletching pattern references ceremonial arrows traditionally believed to ward off evil.
CASIO Subtle craftsmanship permeates every element: the ‘2025 LIMITED’ engraving on the case side, the gently curved indexes mirroring a polished blade’s curvature, and the dark green Dura Soft rubber strap finished with a bishamon kikko tortoiseshell pattern (a symbol of strength and protection).
The unbreakable standard: The art of time
Beyond its artisanal beauty, the MRG-B2000KT delivers the gamut of MR-G hallmarks: shock resistance, magnetic resistance to ISO 764 standards, 20 bar water resistance, Tough Solar power, Multiband 6 radio-controlled timekeeping, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, and Super Illuminator LED lighting.
CASIO Priced at S$9,888 and individually numbered, the MRG-B2000KT arrives as a singular wristwatch embodying the dialogue between past mastery and future precision. A watch as unique as its would-be wearer.
Customers will receive a complimentary Kevin Seah x G-SHOCK MR-G Leather Watch Pouch as a gift with purchase of any MR-G timepiece at the G-SHOCK Premium Store, while stocks last.
