Sacai is working with Nike to release a Cortez for the first time. Here’s what we know about the collab so far.

Sacai has officially announced the drop of their Nike Cortez! Through an Instagram post, they unveiled four drops happening across Hong Kong, Beijing, South Korea and Singapore. Asia will be receiving the “white/university red/light cream” colorway immortalized by Forrest Gump.

Update: February 8, 8 pm (Singapore time)
The Sacai x Nike Cortez have been worn by models in the Sacai Fall/Winter 2022 photoshoot. This could be an indication that the collab sneaker will drop before or alongside Sacai’s FW 2022 collection, which should arrive late 2022.

The much rumored Sacai x Nike Cortez is rumored to drop this year. Instagram sneaker news account, @sneakerhack1 unveiled the first two colorways — a classic white/blue/red and minimalist grey/white colorways.

The Sacai x Nike Cortez blends the past and present of running technology into a single design. Applied to the classic retro runner are modern double-up design elements that made the Sacai LDWaffle incredibly popular. More notably, the midsole merges the simple jagged outsole of the Cortez with the forefoot Air Zoom pods of the Nike Air Zoomfly Next%.

Sacai and Nike have been long-time partners since 2015. Some of their most famous collabs include the Nike x Sacai LDWaffle and Kaws x Sacai x Nike Blazer Low. The duo has even released an apparel collection together.

This is the first time Sacai is tinkering with the Nike Cortez. First released in 1972, the Cortez was the original running shoe designed by Bill Bowerman and remains a staple retro sneaker in the Swoosh lineup.
